Hometown Hounds: Meet Meatball, Looking For her Forever Home at CARE of Dutchess County
Each month we're spotlighting a local animal rescue and pups who need some help finding their forever home.
This months Hometown Hound: Madison AKA...Meatball!
Meet Meatball at CARE of Dutchess County
Compassionate Animal Rescue Efforts of Dutchess County is a No Kill organization that takes in animals to try and find them their forever home.
Over the last few years CARE of DC has found thousands of forever homes for dogs, cats, birds and other pets. Some times it takes a bit longer for the animals at the rescue to find their family.
Madison, also lovingly known as Meatball, is having that same problem. According to CARE of DC owner Karen LeCain, Meatball is a sweet 7-year-old mix bread who loves easy walks, car rides and snuggling.
As someone who has met Meatball first hand, I can tell you the snuggles are real! She fell asleep sitting up while petting her. She loves people, is house trained and has a big heart.
Unfortunately Meatball has been returned twice to CARE of DC. While her first family adored her, they realized she must be the only dog in the home. Her 2nd family, let her roam outside even though they knew she wasn't a fan of other dogs.
This got Meatball into some trouble chasing dogs passing by.
Fingers crossed that 3rd time is a charm. Meatball/Madison is currently CARE's office dog. As I walked in last week, Meatball was the first one to greet me at the door. She rolled over on her belly so fast for pets.
Meatball just needs a little love!
Interested in Adopting Meatball? Here's How!
If you're interested in adopting Meatball (aka Madison) you must fill out an application on the CARE of DC website.
Meatball is going to need to be in a home where she is the only dog. She loves people as we learned earlier, but wants to be the apple of your eye. Can't blame a girl right?
Look at that face!
If you're looking for a low maintenance pup to join your family, Meatball is your girl!
Great News For Long Time Stay at CARE of DC
While Meatball/Madison is still waiting for her forever home, the team at CARE of DC is celebrating one of their longer stays.
Rukus had become quite the celebrity on social media as with his adorable face and bright pink nose. Unfortunately, Rukus had become a long time resident at CARE of DC.
Many thought he would have found a home quickly due to his loving and active nature, however he was at the shelter for over a year.
However, after 400 days at CARE of DC, Rukus has finally found his forever home!
We're hoping Miss Meatball gets the same happy ending as her shelter friend Rukus!
