US News Ranks This Local College Among The Best
There's no shortage of excellent colleges here in the Hudson Valley. Between the area's community colleges, an Ivy League, a SUNY, and a number of privates, we are so lucky to be surrounded by so many diverse institutions of higher education.
One local college in particular received a high ranking yet again this year on this major world report.
Marist Scores Top 10 Spot on U.S. News and World Report Best Colleges List
With the release of the 2025 college rankings list this week, a number of local schools have some celebrating to do. Marist College in Poughkeepsie, though, has secured the #9 spot on the U.S. News and World Report list for 'Regional Universities North,' along with a #4 ranking for Best Undergaduate Teaching in the region, and #39 for Best Value Schools.
With regard to the how the rankings are calculated, schools are ranked 'according to their performance across a set of widely accepted indicators of excellence.' According to U.S. News and World Report:
The 40th annual edition of Best Colleges took those priorities into account. Based on statistics, the top-ranked schools provided ample classroom resources for students and faculty; conferred bachelor's degrees at high rates; and produced graduates who entered the workforce with manageable debt and worthwhile starting salaries.

In addition to this year's U.S. News and World Report stats, Marist also shared the following achievements and notoriety: Open Doors Report #1 Study Abroad Program in the Nation, #8 in the Nation for Student Happiness according to The Princeton Review, Niche named Marist #5 Best College Dorms in New York, and the school made the Wall Street Journal/College Pulse 2025 National List.
