The mine is part of the Snyder Estate and is open for tours in fall and spring. The mine can be reached after a short hike. The mine is also used as an event space. The grounds also hold the Century House Museum and Carriage House.

What did they mine for in this place? According to Wikipedia, The Widow Jane Mine reportedly mined for dolomite which is a source for magnesium. Dolomite is also a type of limestone which makes it popular for outdoor use with landscape design. It also has indoor home use as some builders use the material to make countertops. It was in operation from 1825 to 1970.
