DCSPCA Rescues Two Dozen Plus Cats From New York Home
Another unfortunate animal-related story that required intervention from an area shelter. This time, close to 30 cats, including some kittens, were rescued from a single home, and are now receiving the care and attention they deserve.

Purebread Cats Found Living In Heartbreaking Conditions
The first month of 2025 hasn't even come to a close and this isn't the year's first, nor will it be the last, animal rescue.
The Dutchess County SPCA recently rescued close to 30 cats from 'heartbreaking conditions' at a single home; many of the felines were purebred Tonkinese.
Purebread Tonkinese cats are medium in stature, and a cross of Siamese and Burmese.
Sadly, all of the cats were malnourished and infested with ear mites, most of them were also suffering from a disease that spreads through mites and lice called bartonella.
Many of the cats had gingivitis and tooth decay, with some suffering from upper respiratory infections and eye infections as well.

DCSPCA Rescues & Cares For 28 Cats
Thankfully for these animals, medical staff at DCSPCA immediately began providing treatment following the comprehensive health evaluations. DCSPA has shared that they will 'spare no expense to ensure that they get the chance at a happy life that each and every one of them deserves.'
Their vital care will take weeks of intensive care from our medical team. We have already raised over $6,000 for their care, but we expect the total expenses to exceed $20,000. We are deeply grateful to anyone who has already given-- every dollar means so much to them.
The animals are currently in the best hands, with the kittens in foster care, and according to the team at DCSPCA, 'getting lots of one-on-one attention, playtime, and treats!'
While the unfortunate conditions they were living in have left these cats with a long road ahead, with the community's continued support, they'll get the medical attention and love they need (and deserve). Those interested in donating towards the care of the 28 rescued cats can donate here.
