Police in the Hudson Valley are beefing up security in the region following the Brooklyn subway shooting.

On Tuesday, a shooter fired as many as 33 shots inside a Brooklyn subway station during Tuesday morning's commute. Police add the shooter put on a gas mask and released smoke bombs before firing off 33 shots inside the crowded subway.

At least ten people were shot. Five were listed Wednesday in critical condition. About 30 people were injured.

On Wednesday, the Westchester County Police Department confirmed an increased police presence in the Hudson Valley following the shooting.

"Patrol and Emergency Service Unit officers began increased patrols around railroad stations and other transit hubs yesterday immediately after the mass shooting in the NYC subway. Great to hear that the NYPD has the suspected shooter in custody," the Westchester County Police Department stated.

Metro-North also confirmed it has beefed up security on trains and in stations in the Hudson Valley and across New York after the mass shooting in a Brooklyn subway station Tuesday morning.

"We treat (the) attack in Brooklyn with complete and urgent seriousness," Westchester County Executive George Latimer stated on Tuesday. "Westchester County Police are deploying additional officers to railroads stations and other transit hubs. County officers will join other police departments at local stations and other public transit hubs."

Metro-North confirms they aren't aware of any known threats to the system. Officers were seen walking Metro-North train platforms after the attack in Brooklyn.

Metro-North advises riders to be alert, at all times, and to say something if you see something that looks suspicious.
