Huge Spring Festival Coming to the Walkway Over the Hudson

Spring is just a couple of weeks away. Longer days, great weather, and the chance to get outside to shake off that nasty cabin fever. One of the events that I’m looking forward to the most is Mayfest at the Walkway Over the Hudson. This is an awesome weekend and a great way to support Hudson Valley businesses, vendors, and makers.

Mayfest Essential Farmers and Makers Market

The Mayfest Essential Farmers and Makers Market brings a curated selection of the Hudson Valley’s finest producers, farms, distilleries, breweries, wineries, restaurants, artists, artisans, and more to the Hudson Valley Rail Trail and Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park on Saturday, May 21 and Sunday, May 22 from 12-5 p.m. Vendors will exhibit their wares for tasting or purchase, allowing participants to support several local agribusinesses in one location.

With more than 120 vendors throughout the Hudson Valley Rail Trail and the Walkway’s Ulster Welcome Center Plaza at 87 Haviland Road in Highland, Mayfest features not only farm-fresh products, food from local restaurants, and beer, wine, and spirits samples in a designated tasting area, but also art installations, locally made goods, a special area for children’s activities, and more. All proceeds from Mayfest benefit the Friends of the Walkway and Hudson Valley Rail Trail. A great weekend for a great cause.

Tasting tickets are available now for the sampling area, and $25 wristbands include full access to wine, beer, spirits, and cider samples from more than 20 area businesses. Walkway members, veterans, active-duty military, and senior citizens receive discounted admission. General admission to Mayfest is free but does not include the tasting area.
