Veterans Day is observed on November 11th. Originally known as Armistice Day, this holiday honors military veterans for their sacrifices. Every year I ask myself what I can do to show my support and gratitude for veterans. I came across this incredible organization and automatically knew that I wanted to honor these heroes differently this year. Social media has made it super easy to connect, share positive stories and ideas around the world. I’m excited to announce that I will be sponsoring a wreath for a veteran for Veterans Day. Wreaths Across America have made it possible to do this with just a text message!
Simply text, WREATH to 20222 to make your donation.
The donation amount is only $15, which I personally feel is a great way to show your appreciation and gratitude. This wreath will then be placed onto a veteran’s headstone as a remembrance.
Wreaths Across America focuses on the aspect of “Remember, Honor and Teach”. The idea of donating and sponsoring wreaths started in 1992. Fast forward to 2005, a picture of the decorated wreaths went viral and gained awareness. The idea of wreath laying and ceremonies came alive in just three short years after getting attention online. On December 13, 2008 it was officially marked at “Wreaths Across America Day”. This nonprofit organization was made possible with the hardworking volunteers, fundraisers and immense donations.
Wreaths Across America not only allows you to honor veterans by sponsoring a wreath, they also offer “Thanks a Million” campaign as well. This idea allows anyone to send a card to a veteran with a special thank you for their service.
How will you honor veterans on Veterans Day? I hope my suggestions give you ideas of how to honor our heroes. :)
