Beloved Holiday Tree Coming Down in Ossining

Many towns are embracing the nice, fall weather and using their time to prepare the grounds for the upcoming winter months.

That also means preparing the area for the upcoming holiday season and celebrations. The Village of Ossining, in Westchester County, took to social media to share a holiday season staple, is not coming back.

On Facebook The Village of Ossining writes:

After many years at Main and Spring, our beloved holiday tree has reached the end of its life and will be taken down the week of October 6th.

They go on to add "While it’s sad to say goodbye, we are committed to continuing our cherished holiday tree lighting tradition as we move forward with downtown revitalization."

What Will Replace Ossining Holiday Tree?

With the newfound space, the Village of Ossining will have space to add on to the area.

In their Facebook page they explain that construction will begin this fall on "he Multi-Modal Transportation Hub in the Brandreth Lot, which will bring 79 additional parking spaces and set the stage for a lively, expanded Market Square perfect for future events."

But have no fear, a holiday tree will return once construction wraps up. The Village writes ". Until a permanent tree is planted in the new Market Square upon completion, we'll continue our cherished lighting ceremony with a live Norway Spruce each season."

The trees used will later be replanted in the parks with a goal of celebrating "the holiday spirit together" as they "build a more vibrant downtown for generations to come."
