One of the biggest music festivals in New York State has officially announced plans to return to the Big Apple for 2021.

The first major festival to announce its return in 2021 is right here in New York State. The Governors Ball Music Festival has announced they plan to return for this year. While it typically happens in the summer, The Governors Ball will move to September for 20201. It's still a three-day festival, running from September 24 through September 26, 20201.

When asked if the festival is definitely happening, The Governors Ball website said:

Given that vaccines are rolling out and many experts predict a return to live music events in the Fall, we are hopeful. We’re booking an amazing lineup and making sure all suggested safety protocols are followed. Rest assured that safety is our first priority and we are working closely with all city and state authorities on everything.

It's still undetermined where the festival will be held this year. According to the New York Post, the location is TBA, or To Be Announced. Normally, the festival is held on Randall's Island in New York City. A ferry, bus, or car would be required to access the festival location. The festival organizers had a bus pick up location in Harlem to transport people to the island in previous years.

According to their FAQ page, The Governors Ball the lineup for the 2021 festival will be announced in the coming months. The lineup will not be the same as the 2020 festival. If you had tickets for the 2020 festival and didn't request a refund, you can use them for the 2021 festival. If you can't make the 2021 dates but had tickets for last year's festival, you can request a refund as well.

The 2020 Governors Ball Music Festival was called off due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the New York Post.
