Free Summer Lunch Programs Return For Hudson Valley Students

Summer is great for everyone to get outside and get active!

We can go nature walks, stroll through local parks and get involved in community events. If we want to cool off, visiting public pools, beaches and splash pads are also something that we can enjoy this summer in the Hudson Valley.

What Free Experiences Can We Enjoy In The Hudson Valley This Summer?

Besides going on walks and visiting local parks, we can also check out which Hudson Valley towns are offering outdoor music for free. They usually have these free concerts each summer.

Other free options for us to experience this summer in the Hudson Valley include visiting local farms, historic sites, certain fairs and festivals as well. We can also check out farm markets or even watch a beautiful sunset in the area.

In addition us to taking in all of the free opportunities in the Hudson Valley, there are also free, food options available for children.

Free Summer Lunch Programs Return To Hudson Valley Schools

Schools throughout the Hudson Valley participate in the free summer meals program and I love this idea! It allows students to have food available to them even when school is out. This could range from free breakfast or lunch or even both.

Some schools allow students to show up at scheduled times to receive these meals.

What Hudson Valley Schools Offer Free Summer Lunch Programs For Students?

At first, I noticed that the Port Jervis City School District was offering this option to students. I thought it would be a great idea to share this with those who could benefit from it.

The Port Jervis City School District is offering their free summer food program for 2026. This will take place from July 8 to August 26 and it allows all families that have children enrolled in Port Jervis schools to quality. Students would receive breakfast and lunch.

The Port Jervis City School District recommends that if there are any questions, be sure to reach out to them via phone or email. Those who are interested can sign up through their google form.

Another Hudson Valley school that is participating in a free summer food program is the Poughkeepsie City School District. They mentioned that their free summer meals are available for 2026 as well.

The Poughkeepsie City School District is giving away free breakfast and lunch to students Monday through Friday from July 6 to August 28. There will be five locations where these meals can be pocked up

While lunch will be provided at these locations, breakfast pick up will be available at the Pioneer On the Run bus. For a list of locations for these meal pickups and additional questions, be sure to visit the Poughkeepsie City School District's website.
