Spring and summer are my favorite months! I love the warmer days filled with sunshine and birds chirping. It’s fun to attend outdoor events, spend time on walking trails and take in the natural beauty of New York State.

It feels great to soak up the sun during the warm, spring days in New York State. However, there’s something special about gazing up at the moon as well.

Here's What It Actually Means To 'Plant By The Moon'

At first, when I heard about planting by the moon, I thought it meant planting at night in our fun pjs. However, the Old Farmers Almanac gave us some helpful info about this meaning. Planting by the moon refers to the cycles of the moon and its effect on the growth of plants.

It depends on a new or full moon along with seeds and if they need more water during different moon phases.

I enjoyed learning about the waxing of the moon and waning of the moon also related to when we should plant our fruits and vegetables.

More information on this, we can visit the Old Farmers Almanac for some more help info!

What Are Some Moons We Can Look Forward To Seeing This Year?

We’ve been able to see some fascinating full moons so far this year.

There was the Wolf Moon, Snow Moon and Worm Moon. Although, my favorite full moon of 2026 so far has been the night of the Pink Moon! I was able to spot a rainbow aura around it and it was truly incredible.

We can look forward to seeing Blue Moon, Strawberry Moon, Buck Moon and more this year. However, the next one I’m already excited about and wanted to share with you.
