For nearly 100 years, LEGO has transfixed both kids and adults across the world. Now, one local resident is taking their creativity to another level by honoring some very special landmarks in upstate New York.

Over the years, the LEGO brand has expanded far beyond bricks, with LEGOLAND parks opening across the globe (including here in the Hudson Valley) and collaborations with partners ranging from local breweries (below) to famous online games. Still, building remains at its core.

Custom LEGO Builds in New York

While most average LEGO fans are familiar with the common pre-made brick sets that allow builders to create whatever is pictured on the box, advanced LEGO lovers take things a bit further with custom builds.

One such enthusiast, who goes by the Instagram handle brick_lizard, has been creating LEGO builds that honor one of upstate New York's largest cities, Rochester, NY. One of their most popular projects focuses on their school, Rochester Institute of Technology (below).

A closer inspection of the build reveals some creative choices for the iconic tiger, including using what looks like swords and other LEGO weapons as its whiskers. The comment section was full of proud Rochester residents and graduates.

Rochester Residents React to LEGO RIT Creation

"This feels like the most RIT thing ever. Love it", said one fan. "As both a Rochester native and the parent of a current RIT second year, this is amazing!", applauded another. Luckily, brick_lizard's builds didn't stop with just one Rochester icon.
