Hudson Valley Race Track Announces its Cancelled a Popular Event
A holiday tradition for Hudson Valley race fans is not happening this year in Ulster County, NY.
For many years, racecar fans in the Hudson Valley have grown accustomed to the dirt track racing season concluding each year with a special event at the Accord Speedway in Ulster County, NY.
Car Racing in the Hudson Valley, NY
Dirt track racing has long been a part of the Hudson Valley, as we are lucky enough to have two tracks in the region that host races throughout most seasons. The Orange County Fair Speedway and the Accord Speedway have both been destinations for race car fans and enthusiasts from across the Northeast.
Accord Speedway
Since the 1960s, the Accord Speedway, located at 299 Whitfield Road in the hamlet of Accord in the town of Rochester, NY, has been providing drivers, teams, and enthusiasts the opportunity to enjoy competitive car racing every Friday night.

The 2025 racing season began back in May and offered fans the chance to watch the "dirt fly" under the lights, on multiple Fridays throughout the spring and summer. It held its "last points" race on Friday, September 5th, and once the night of racing was complete, many fans would have to wait until November for the next big race.
The Gobbler at Accord Speedway
For over a decade, the Gobbler has been one of the speedway's most popular events, offering intense competition between well-known drivers and race teams. Dirt Track Digest called it the grand finale of the racing season, saying,
"The Gobbler has become more than just a race; it’s a tradition that brings fans together one last time each year. The race’s reputation as the season’s unofficial closing event adds an undeniable energy, leaving racers and fans counting down to the next year’s action."
The 2025 Gobbler was scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 29th, 2025. Unfortunately, race fans will have to wait until next season for another night of racing at Accord as it appears the popular race has been canceled.
Accord Speedway Cancels Popular Race
A recent post on the Accord Speedway Facebook page confirmed that this year's Gobbler has been canceled. The post stated,
"Gary has made the difficult decision to cancel this year's Gobbler...he has big plans for track work this fall to make the surface even better for the 2026 season!"
Drivers and fans were sad to hear about the cancellation, according to comments left on the post, but were thankful that the decision was made now instead of closer to the expected date in November.
We did reach out to the racetrack for comment about the cancellation and the 2026 season, but haven't heard back.
