The incident happened around 4 p.m. Thursday January 28th.

According to News 10, three correctional officers sustained injuries last week at the hands of a disruptive inmate at the Greene Correctional Facility.

Reports of the incident state, that one officer reported that an inmate started to act "erratic" in one of the medium security dorms at 4:31 p.m. The inmate then entered the recreation room with the officer following behind. Once in the recreation room, the inmate picked the officer up and slammed him to the ground.

The inmate then jumped on top of the officer and started "striking" the officer in the right side of the face and upper body. As other officers responded to the scuffle, the inmate jumped off the officer and ran into another room of the facility with two officers chasing him.

As officers tried to get the inmate under control he began throwing punches at both officers, but was unable to land any punches. As the inmate continued to throw punches, one officer was able to get the inmate into a body hold and as he did the inmate continued to struggle to try and escape the hold.

Officers then had to spray the inmate with "OC spray", which led to the inmate falling to the ground. Once on the ground officers used body holds and were able to put the inmate in handcuffs.

Three officers did sustain injuries in the scuffle and were treated by facility medical staff, all three officers remained on duty after being treated.

The inmate, who is serving a 10 year sentence for assault, was removed from the dorm area after the incident and placed in a special housing unit while officials decide what he'll be charged with.

Greene Correctional Facility is located in the Greene County town of Coxsackie.
