It has been a great 2024 so far, but now it's time to say goodbye to this daily highlight across the Hudson Valley.

If you think about it 2024 was a fairly good year so far, right? I understand that that's probably a loaded question and will depend on who you ask but I think there is one thing we can all agree that when it happens for the last time, we are all kind of down and cant wait for it to return the following year.

Sunshine Makes New York Happier

Scientifically it has been proven time after time that sunshine does indeed make many of us happier! Why? Experts say that sunlight increases serotonin levels in our brains, which can result in having more energy and being in a better mood. Not getting enough sunlight can lead to some feeling depressed or developing Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) which is not something any of us want.

Sunlight also produces vitamin D, which doctors say is important for bone health, so yes sunlight is important to our well-being and after next week it's going to be even harder to get the sun we love and need.

This Saturday, November 2nd, will be the last day the sun will set over New York after 5 p.m. After we "fall back" Sunday morning the sunset will set later that day at 4:49 p.m. and will only get earlier after that. The earliest the sun will set in New York in 2024 will be at 4:28 p.m. starting on December 2nd through December 12th. After that, it gets later each day by a minute or so and before you know it 2025 will begin and we will start all over again...LOL!
