Popular Kingston Restaurant Closing After 50+ Years
A legendary place to eat in Kingston has announced it will be closing its doors after serving the area for more than five decades.
Kingston, New York is known for many things. On the history side, it was the first capital of New York State it is one of the only cities in the area that has three districts listed on the National Register of Historic Places, including the uptown Stockade District, the Midtown Neighborhood Broadway Corridor, and the Rondout-West Strand Historic District downtown.

Kingston is also known for a ton of great places to eat and drink with many of the establishments staying in business for many, many years. Sadly it appears that one of the area's most popular places for breakfast and lunch has announced they are closing for good after more than 50 years.
Eddy's in Kingston, New York Closing
Eddy's, located at 742 Broadway in Kingston, NY has announced that it will serve its last meal on Sunday, August 25th. The longtime Kingston breakfast and lunch staple has been owned and operated by the Millouras family for over 50 years according to the Daily Freeman, with current owner Chris Millouras opening the iconic restaurant with his father, Eddy in 1971. The restaurant has undergone a few changes over the years including changing their hours of operation. Currently, they are open five days a week from 6 a.m. until 1 p.m. according to their Facebook page.
Will A New Restaurant Open in Eddy's Place?
The owner's daughter Rebecca Millouras-Lettre, told the Freeman that her dad is the type of owner who didn't take a day off for 25 years, "My father just physically has to do it", referring to the closure. She did say that there are plans in the works for a new restaurant to take Eddy's place soon and should open in a few weeks.
The new restaurant will remain locally owned and operated and is expected to keep a lot of the same old Eddy traditions, as well as incorporate a lot of new, exciting things according to Millouras-Lettre.
