Snow has already covered nearly all of New York State, but the amount of snow depends on where you live.

The biggest snowfall in the Hudson Valley this season, for example, barely broke five inches (below). A bit further north, however, things start to get wild.

Massive Snowfalls in New York State

Recently, lake effect weather meant that some upstate New York towns were covered in as much as four feet of snow. There's at least one area, however, that has seen so much consistent precipitation that it has joined a very exclusive club.

The Exclusive "200-Inch Club" for Snowfall

"Redfield NY has now joined the 200” club for snowfall on the season for the first time since 2019-2020", posted meteorologist Mark Margavage on Instagram (below). The more-than 16 feet of total snowfall is mind-boggling on its own, but it's not the first time Redfield has been in the record books.

Massive Snowfalls in Redfield, NY

In 2018, Redfield, NY was awarded the prestigious title of the snowiest town in the Great Lakes region when an astounding 32 feet of total snowfall occurred. Some other New York residents might know exactly what to do with so much accumulation (below).

Big Snow Means Big Snowmen

In Potsdam, NY, a local tree nursery decided to make lemonade out of lemons when they spent days constructing a 23-foot-tall snowman earlier this year. If that's how big snow sculptures can get with limited snowfall, the possibilities seem endless for creative Redfield residents.
