Free Family Event: Weekly Big Blue Block Party At Poughkeepsie Senior Center
Looking for a fun, free activity for your little ones?
Every Tuesday, starting October 15th, the Town of Poughkeepsie Senior Center is throwing the ultimate Big Blue Block Party—and trust us, your kids are going to LOVE it!
These aren’t your ordinary blocks; they’re Imagination Playground’s Big Blue Blocks—giant foam pieces that inspire creativity, innovation, and endless hours of fun.
This weekly event is open to all families, and yes, parents, you’re part of the action, too. From 3pm to 4:30 PM, the Senior Center at 14 Abes Way, Poughkeepsie, NY, will transform into a playtime paradise.
With huge bricks, cylinders, and chutes, kids can build anything they can dream up—think castles, obstacle courses, and more.
These blocks are a long way from the wooden ones we grew up with.
Back then, we had basic cubes and rectangles.
I remember those classic cardboard blocks from the '80s—they were painted to look like bricks but were so lightweight you could build giant towers without them crashing down.
There was nothing quite like the satisfaction of knocking over a huge stack!
But now? These foam blocks let kids build worlds that only exist in their imaginations.
The blocks are made of waterproof, mold-resistant foam, which means they’re safe, durable, and perfect for every wild invention your kid can think up.
The best part? It’s free! Just bring your little builders, hang out with other families, and get in on the fun yourself. This isn’t a drop-off event, so be ready to get hands-on and build right alongside your kids.
