The Archdiocese of New York, which encompasses catholic churches in Dutchess, Orange, Ulster, Sullivan, Putnam, Westchester, The Bronx, Staten Island, and Manhattan have announced that masses at all archdiocese churches will be cancelled the weekend of March 14th and 15th due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

On the advice of medical professionals and the events that took place in Dutchess County where the government announced that gatherings of more than 20 people are prohibited as of March 14th, Cardinal Timothy Dolan, the Archbishop of New York made the announcement on their website and on their twitter account.  Cardinal Dolan wants his parishoners to quote "Let us pray for all who are sick, as well as doctors, nurses, caregivers, and all those working hard to combat the disease.  We should also remember those whose lives have been otherwise disrupted, especially anyone who has lost income from a loss of work during this difficult time.”

Churches will remain open for private prayer.  A private mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York will be broadcast online through  www.saintpatrickscathedral.org/live.
